Looking on the bright side, at least the media are starting to come up with good news stories rather than their usual relentless wall of doom and gloom. However, we know that it is still tough out there, and so are pleased to be able to offer some money saving deals to help ease the strain.
Below
you can see some of the fantastic offers we have to help make the pennies go a
little further! See our DINING section at the top and then SPECIAL DEALS for more information.
Fish and Chip
'Fry Day'
Join us on a Friday, lunch or evening, and enjoy home battered fish with hand
cut chunky chips, peas and home made tartare sauce for just £8.50. (Or take out

Children's menu We are pleased to offer a selection of child friendly dishes for children under 10, available Wednesday - Saturday lunchtimes and Tuesday - Saturday evenings between 6 and 7pm. Book Exchange
We
now have a bookcase in our main bar area with a good selection of fiction and
non fiction books. Customers are welcome
to bring a book and exchange for one or to take a book home with them for a
suggested donation of £1 which goes to our regular charity The Midlands Air
Ambulance. Due to the success of the Book Exchange / Purchase, we are currently short of books. If you have any you don't need, we would be delighted to take them off your hands!
Free WiFi
You
can ensure that you are never out of touch when you are at The Navvy by using our Free Wi-Fi. Click into 'The
Cloud' when you are here, whether with your laptop, tablet or phone, and after a simple
first time registration you are up and running and able to stay connected any
time you are with us. You can also
download a simple app (FastConnect) which will allow your device to
automatically connect to The Cloud free WiFi any time you are at The Navvy or
in thousands of other places around the country. Brent can explain more (don’t waste your time
asking Mark, he is still using his dumb phone!).
Just Rewards?
It is always
nice to be recognised for your achievements and endeavours. We are delighted to learn that for the fifth year running we will be in The Good Pub Guide (2019/20) as a full entry. We have seen the
entry, and a very nice write up it is too!
Thanks to those customers who by their recommendations have made this
possible.
We are also
pleased to announce that we have now achieved Gold standard in the British Hen Welfare Trust Awards. This recognises our commitment to using only
free range eggs in all of the dishes on our menu and follows on from the Silver we
were awarded last year. This top award has come about mostly due to our
decision to start making our own ice cream and of course double checking our
suppliers of items such as mayonnaise.
Finally we
are delighted to announce that our kitchen has been upgraded to the highest
possible rating (5 Very Good) by Shropshire County Council as part of their Scores
on the Doors scheme. It reflects the cleanliness of the food
preparation areas and the work of the staff who work in them, so
congratulations to all of them.

Boating your
way to The Navvy
If
you are lucky enough to be coming down The Montgomery Canal by boat, then there
are moorings opposite us for your convenience. It is worth noting that if
you are planning to cruise down the Canal, you will come through the locks at
Welsh Frankton as you leave the Llangollen
Canal. These locks
are manned, and only open between 12 and 2pm each day. You MUST prebook
by calling the Canals and Rivers Trust on 03030 404040 by 10am on the day you
wish to come through the locks. If you do not book, you will not be
allowed through, even if it is a quiet day. Once you are through the
locks it is a leisurely 2 - 3 hours down to The Navvy. Bear in
mind that you will also need to book a return passage. During the winter
season (roughly November - March) please note that 48 hours notice for
passing through the locks is required.
