- St Valentine's Day Fixed Price menu
It may be January, but it remains unseasonably
mild and when the sun is shining a walk along the glorious Montgomery Canal
is an absolute delight. Why not take a walk before or after you visit us
- you are welcome to leave your car in the car park. Don't forget that we
are very dog friendly. Well behaved dogs are welcome to join you in the
bar area or garden. The same applies to children! (They can go in
the dining room too!). And as the weather gets colder, why not come in
and enjoy a drink or a meal by our real log fire?
St Valentine's Day This year, St. Valentine's Day falls on a Tuesday. If you are looking to spend some quality time with your loved one, join us at The Navvy for a relaxed and intimate evening. We are offering a Fixed Price menu, with 2 courses for £21.95 and 3 courses for £25.95. You can look at the menu by scrolling to the bottom of the page. We will also be offering our usual Bargee's Menu (see dining from tab at top of page). It is always a popular night, so be sure to book your table early to avoid disappointment.

RSPCA Award
As many of you will know, we were thrilled to reach
the finals of the RSPCA Good
Business Awards, which recognises companies who use and
actively promote ethically produced meat and produce. We were one of only
three pubs in the country to reach the finals, and travelled down to London on 5th
October for an evening awards ceremony to discover our fate.
We were delighted / disappointed (delete according to current mood swing) to be
the runners up on the evening. Which, after all isn't bad in a national
competition. The winner on the evening was The Feathers in Stocksfield,
Northumberland. The
Feathers has this year won the Great British Pub of the Year,
the Great British Gastropub of the Year 2011, and has also won the RSPCA award
not only this year but also in 2010 and 2009. So, in context, Runner Up in such
prestigious company is not too bad! (We won't mention that their chef has
worked with the RSPCA on a cookery book as well...)
Award
or no award, we not only had a great day out, but are delighted that the food
policy of which we are so proud was recognised. We will continue to strive
to improve and who knows, maybe next year will be our year! (We are currently
drafting cookery book ideas!)
PS It’s not an award because we
allow dogs in the pub, but don’t forget that we do!

The Navvy. Musicians and music groups of all sorts, shapes and

jam sessions etc. If this is of interest to you, please feel free to chat
to us about your needs / thoughts and we will be delighted to help you out.

and you are welcome to come along and join in or just relax and enjoy the music
and the atmosphere. It starts at about 8.30pm.

Our next quiz

Voucher? They are available in any denominations - just give us a call
and we will sort it out for you.
Boating your way to The
Navvy
If you are lucky
enough to be coming down The Montgomery Canal by boat, then there are moorings
opposite us for your convenience. It is worth noting that if you are
planning to cruise down the Canal, you will come through the locks at Welsh
Frankton as you leave the Llangollen
Canal. These locks
are manned, and only open between 12 and 2pm each day. You MUST prebook
by calling British Waterways on 01606 723800 by 10am on the day you wish to
come through the locks. If you do not book, you will not be allowed
through, even if it is a quiet day. Once you are through the locks it is
a leisurely 2 - 3 hours down to The Navvy. Bear in mind that you
will also need to book a return passage.
